Important Message from the President

April 2, 2020

Due to growing concerns about Covid-19 the Lions Club of Cobourg has made a tough decision to cancel the Waterfront Festival that was to take place on Canada Day Weekend at Victoria Park Cobourg.

While it is with a heavy heart that we will not be hosting the Cobourg Waterfront Festival, which is our biggest fundraising event, the health and safety of our community is our main concern. We have been following government guidelines and working with advice of public health authorities and so it is with reluctance that we have made the decision to not go forward with this year’s event.

Lions Club of Cobourg President,

Marshal Davis

Since our charter in 1950, The Lions Club of Cobourg has lived up to Lions International’s motto of “WE SERVE”.

Over the years, our community projects have included donations to The Northumberland Hills Hospital chemotherapy unit, local Sports associations, bursary and scholarships to area schools, individuals and families in need of assistance, CNIB, Baltimore Arena, Lions Pavilion in Victoria Park, an organizing sponsor of the Cobourg Santa Claus parade and 1 of the organizers of the Waterfront Festival plus many more projects too numerous to list.

As we enter our 70th year as a chartered member of Lions Club International I'd like to take this time to write a few words about our club and what I feel it means to the community and what it means to be a Lion.

Being a Lion is not about just raising funds and doing BBQ's but it is about giving back, giving back to the people we live amongst, the community we live in and most of all giving back to each other in support of all we do, it is about doing a job and doing it well and to the best of our ability.

We are fortunate to live in a community where what we do does make a difference and being able to follow our motto of "We Serve". Looking forward to serving you.

On behalf of the Directors and members of the Cobourg Lions Club, I thank you for your continued support of Lions projects and if you happen to see one of our members in our Lions vests say hello... we’d love to hear from you.

Marshal Davis

In Sonora, California, a wooden snowman on the lawn says much more than “Happy Holidays.” The snowmen, like the wooden pumpkins that decorated homes at Halloween, are a sign of support for the Sonora Lions’ Tree Mortality Aid Program (TMAP). Through TMAP, Lions are using the wood of beetle-killed trees to create decorative lawn ornaments…
